The University System of Georgia and Georgia Tech offer a choice of three dental plans and one vision plan.
The three dental plans offer network dentists to help minimize your out-of-pocket dental expenses. You will see that each plan covers preventative services like routine checkups and cleanings, as well as basic and major services. However, there are important differences in annual benefit maximums, orthodontia coverage levels, and the percentage of payment for major services, so be sure to compare your options and choose the best fit for your needs and budget.
- Eligibility & Effective Date of Coverage
Regular, full-time/part-time faculty or staff who work at least 30 hours per week are eligible for dental coverage on the first day of the month following submission of the New Hire Enrollment Form.
The cost of dental coverage is paid entirely by you on a pre-tax basis. See the 2017 rates.
- Changes to Your Election
Due to restrictions imposed by Section 125 of the IRS code, after you make enrollment decisions during your initial eligibility or open enrollment, you cannot make changes during the remainder of the plan year (Jan. 1 to Dec. 31) unless a qualifying change in family status occurs. Please see the Family Status Change section for more information.
